Pirelli Motorsports have confirmed that the set of tyres that Nico Rosberg was running in the test yesterday when he suffered a blow out at 320KPH were a set of prototype tyres that had only ever been tested in the company's laboratory.
Pirelli have confirmed that the tyre that was used yesterday will not be used again and have assured all the teams that the 2014 rubber will be completely safe.
Fortunately, Nico was uninjured in the accident but admitted afterwards that he was a little shaken.
