F1's quest to break the US market will succeed

(Mercedes AMG F1 Team)

What do you get when you put Ferrari and Gene Haas together? The ingredients for Formula One success in the United States. Formula One has tried for years to break the American market with limited success,

However that all changed when in 2012, following a year absence from the Formula One calendar the US made its eagerly anticipated return to the Formula One fold when the Circuit Of The America's in Austin, Texas played host to their inaugural Grand Prix. The event which was a sell out was an overwhelming success and proved to be extremely popular among American Formula One fans.

The 2013 race was another exciting race and this year's event will prove to be no different as it plays host what is expecting to be a fantastic battle between the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg with one of the two drivers likely to take the championship win.

The circuit in Austin is the perfect stage for Formula One in the United States and there is a some stage in future plans for there to be a street race in New Jersey possibly as soon as the 2016 season which brings me on to the next reason as to why this time around Formula One's association with the United States will succeed.

In 2016, the Haas F1 Team will make their eagerly awaited Formula One debut. The team was founded by NASCAR team co-owner Gene Haas who runs the extremely successful Stewart Haas NASCAR team with champion Tony Stewart.

The team are still in the early stages of their development but have taken a major step forward after agreeing a power unit supply deal and technical partnership with Ferrari who will work closely with the team as they develop their team.

When people think of motorsport in America, they immediately think of IndyCar and NASCAR but Formula One is regarded as the pinnacle of motorsport and with Haas now involved in arguably two of the biggest forms of motor racing in the world fans of his NASCAR team are sure to look at what his F1 team will do.

The fact that the team have partnered with Ferrari is a major coup for the team as the US is Ferrari's road car division's largest market and in fact current Ferrari F1 team principal Marco Mattiacci was CEO of Ferrari North America before he took up his current role with the F1 team back in April of this season.

One thing is certain and is if the Haas F1 Team US HQ is anything to go by then the team are going to do a great job.
