Ferrari will improve next season

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen is confident that the Italian team can make a big step forward next season and believes that one of the main issues that the team are suffering from at the moment is their ERS (Energy Recovery System). Raikkonen's team mate Fernando Alonso suffered his first Ferrari mechanical failure since joining the team in 2010. The team confirmed that it had been as a result of an ERS failure. When asked about the ERS, Raikkonen said:

'I think in the race conditions it's one point that we need to improve a lot, But obviously now we are in the season it is not very easy, we know that, but I'm 100% sure we can make a good step over the winter.'

New Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne has stated that he feel that one of the main issues that Ferrari need to deal with is their engine and if the engine freeze regulations are as expected relaxed this should help the team to improve their performance. Raikkonen commented that he felt that they were suffering from a lack of speed in both Belgium and last time out in Italy.

We improve those areas all the time but if you look at certain teams and certain engine manufacturers over one lap we are not too bad but then in the race distance we seem to be struggling in certain places like Monza. It's been better, for sure.'

The next stop on the Formula One calendar is the Singapore night race which takes place next weekend where last season, Raikkonen started the race from 13th place on the grid and went on to finish on the podium for the Lotus F1 Team.

The Finn is unsure how the team will do in Singapore as the characteristics of the car he is in this season are completely different to the car he drove there last season as it is a different team. Raikkonen feels that the team will be in a stronger position in last Grand Prix of the season.
