(Wikipedia)

Officials in Long Beach California have confirmed that they are looking into the possibility of bringing Formula One back to the famous circuit.

The street circuit is currently used as an IndyCar venue, however that deal expires at the end of next year and as a result Formula One could return to the California. Long  Beach hosted a Formula One race from 1976 - 1983 before switching to CART and later to its current incarnation as an IndyCar event.

Formula One recently re entered the American market with a at the race at the Circuit Of The Americas in Austin Texas, the race has proven to be a huge success. The sport was also due to host a race in New Jersey this year however that will not go ahead and the authorities in New Jersey are hopeful that the race will go ahead next year.

The prospect of a Grand Prix return to Long Beach is mouth watering and would be absolutely fantastic for the sport particularly as an American team have lodged an application to join the Formula One grid.
