Hamilton nominated for Laureus sports award

Reigning Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton has been nominated for the Laureus World Sportsman of the year award.

The double world champion is not the only Formula One star nominated for a Laureus award as Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo has also been nominated for an award in the Breakthrough of the year category after the Australian won three Grand Prix in Canada, Hungary and Belgium last year.

The Australian went on to finish the 2014 Formula One season in third place in the championship behind the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

2014 Formula One Constructors champions the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team have also been nominated for an award in the World Team of the year award. Hamilton is not the only Formula One world champion to have been nominated for the Laureus award as Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel were also nominated for the award.
