Williams Martini Racing’s Deputy Team Principal Claire Williams has refused to rule out promoting new development driver Alex Lynn to a race seat with the Grove based outfit in the future.

The English driver who joined the team earlier this year will make his on track debut in the FW37 at the Barcelona Circuit De Catalunya where the two day in season test concludes today. Williams believes that the 21 year old Lynn who is the reigning GP3 Champion will be able to come up through the ranks of the Grove based outfit.

Williams currently have five drivers on their books that includes both race drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa. They also have former Sauber F1 Team driver Adrian Sutil as the reserve driver, Susie Wolf as the test driver and Alex Lynn as their development driver.

Williams believes that in Lynn her team have found a driver capable of dealing with the pressure of Formula One.

Claire Williams has revealed that she would love to have a British driver racing for her British team as she is very nationalistic. The last British driver to race for the Grove based outfit was Jenson Button who made his Formula One debut with the team in the year 2000 when he drove alongside Ralf Schumacher.
