Lotus not concerned by missing first Winter test in Jerez

(Ben Johnston 2014)

The Lotus F1 Team have confirmed that they are not worried by missing the first test of the Winter in Jerez at the end of January.

Team chairman Gerard Lopez has said that the main issue that will play a factor in Jerez is the new 1.6 litre V6 power units and he is aware that any problems reported with the new engine will be made known to the Enstone team as Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Caterham will all be present at the test and will all use Renault power this season.

This also confirms that the Lotus F1 Team will continue to use Renault engines for this season after questions were raised as to whether Lotus would continue to use the French engine.

Lopez also confirmed that his team are currently developing the transmission for the new 1.6 litre V6 turbo charged power units.

Due to the track temperatures expected in Jerez the team feel that it far more beneficial to travel directly to Bahrain to be ready for the second test of the preseason in Bahrain.
