Change is good for McLaren

McLaren's Jenson Button believes that the return of Ron Dennis and the changes that he has brought in to the team will have a positive affect on the team. Dennis returned to the position of CEO of the McLaren Group earlier this year in a bid to get the Woking squad back to the front of Formula One where they deserve to be following an extremely disappointing season in 2013.

The team have brought in former Lotus boss Eric Boullier as the new Racing Director at the F1 team and are set to appoint a new team CEO, this position was previously held by former team boss Martin Whitmarsh.

Jonathan Neale currently holds this role while Dennis completes the management restructuring programme. It is understood that the team will opt to promote from within which is what they have traditionally done. However, it is unclear as to whether or not Martin Whitmarsh will remain in a role within the McLaren Group.

Boullier's arrival at the team is not the only change at Woking for this season. They also have a new driver after promoting development ad test driver Kevin Magnussen he has replaced Sergio Perez who has moved to Sahara Force India.

Button believes that with Boullier at the team he will bring fresh idea's and momentum to the team. McLaren have had a great start to testing as their new MP4-29 features a radical rear suspension and has proven to be one of the quickest cars in testing so far. The real test will come next week as the second test of the preseason period gets underway in Bahrain where the track temperatures are expected to be much higher then they were in Jerez as will the air temperature which will have an impact on how the new power train's perform so it will be interesting to see how the test goes.
