Maldonado set to debut new Lotus today

(Lotus F1 Team via Twitter)

Pastor Maldonado will get behind the wheel of the new Lotus E22 for the first time in Jerez later today as the Enstone squad are conducting a shakedown of their new car.

The team opted to skip the opening winter test last week to concentrate on developing their car further. Despite debuting the new car today the team will be restricted in what they can do as the shake down is a 'filming day' and as a result t hey can only run the car for a maximum 100KM.

This should certainly be enough mileage to enable the team to get plenty of feedback in relation to systems checks and how the car behaves on track.

The other Renault powered team's, Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Caterham are undoubtedly going to be watching to see how Lotus get on as they have all suffered from problems with the Renault Energy Recovery System over the course of winter testing.

As the Lotus F1 Team say in a video posted on their Youtube channel Watch This Space.
