Quesnel considering Lotus F1 Team offer

(Ben Johnston 2014)

Former Citroen WRC boss Olivier Quesnel has confirmed that he has received an approach from the Lotus F1 Team in relation to taking up a senior management role with the Enstone based team.

The squad who finished last year's Constructors championship in fourth place are currently on the look out for a new team boss after Eric Boullier left the team to take up a new management role with the McLaren team.

Quesnel was at Citroen during Sebastian Loeb's dominant time at the team which saw the Spaniard win 7 WRC title's. Quesnel was also in charge of Peugeot's LMP1 team and is currently the head of OAK Racing. It is not yet known what senior management role the 64 year old would take t Enstone as Genii Capital owner Gerard Lopez is currently filling that role but will took over from Renaulstep aside once a permanent replacement for Boullier is found.

Quesnel, who knows Lopez, has confirmed that he was approached by Genii Capital in 2010 when they took over from Renault but declined the offer.

The team have just over a month before the start of the new season in Melbourne, and it is unclear as to whether or not they will have a new boss in place by then. We will just have to watch this space and wait and see what happens.
