Romain Grosjean got his first taste of the Lotus F1 Team's new E22 car this morning as the second winter test got underway at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The Enstone based squad who finished fourth in the Constructors championship last season have gone for a radical twin nose solution as their answer to the new regulations policing the height of the front wing and nose assembly.

Grosjean will drive the new car on Wednesday and Thursday before handing over the car to Pastor Maldonado for the final two day's on Friday and Saturday. The team elected to miss the opening test of the preseason period in Jerez, opting instead to continue developing their new car.

The debut of the new car marks the start of a new era at the team following the exit of a number of key personnel from the outfit over the winter including Kimi Raikkonen who returned to Ferrari while team principal Eric Boullier has joined McLaren. Grosjean is currently the fourth fastest driver out on track in Bahrain at this morning's early stage.
