Vergne in talks with Williams Martini Racing over test role

Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Jean Eric Vergne is reportedly in talks with the Williams Martini Racing Team about the possibility of replacing Felipe Nasr as the Grove based outfit's test and reserve driver alongside Susie Wolff in 2015 when Nasr will be making his debut with the Sauber F1 Team with Marcus Ericsson.

It is looking increasingly likely that Vergne who has been with the Toro Rosso Formula One team since making his debut in 2012 will lose his race seat with the Italian team with Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr (son of World Rally Championship legend Carlos Sainz) looking set to replace the Frenchman as Max Verstappen's team mate next season,

Sainz Jr will be back behind the wheel of a Formula One car later today when he takes part in the end of season test at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi for Infiniti Red Bull Racing driving the RB10.

Meanwhile Toro Rosso have confirmed that Max Verstappen will drive for them on both days of the test.

Jean Eric Vergne was seen speaking to Williams Martini Racing Team driver adviser Alexander Wurz following Sunday's Grand Prix where the Grove based outfit secure third place in the championship.

Vergne had hoped to be racing with Infiniti Red Bull Racing in 2014 but missed out on partnering Sebastian Vettel as Daniel Ricciardo was chosen for the drive while his 2014 Toro Rosso team mate Daniil Kvyat was selected to replace the Ferrari bound Sebastian Vettel as Daniel Ricciardo's team mate at the Milton Keynes based outfit for next season.
