Gene Haas is expected to be confirmed as Formula One's 12 team by the FIA later today according to reports in the US.
Speaking to Forbes yesterday Formula One commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone said:
'Haas has been accepted, the FIA have accepted him for sure. It is done. They are going to put that out tomorrow'.
The last American team involved in Formula One was Penske, but they pulled out of the sport in 1978. The USF1 Team attempted to make it onto the F1 grid for the start of the 2010 season, however they failed to get the bid off the ground.
It is unclear when the announcement will be made today but as soon as it is confirmed it will be on Paddock Eye.
