The Lotus F1 Team's Pastor Maldonado has confirmed that he and Esteban Gutierrez have spoken about the pairs collision at last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix which resulted in Gutierrez' car being flipped over. The Mexican was briefly hospitalized but was released a short time later.

Maldonado, who received a five place grid penalty and two penalty point's on his FIA Super Licence said:

'We have been in touch, It was a misunderstanding from both sides. He was out of line in the entry of the corner, and I was completely committed to the corner.

Along with the grid penalty for next weekend's race in China, Maldonado had to serve a ten second stop-go penalty during the race. The Venezuelan went on to finish the race in 14th place just behind Marussia's Max Chilton and just ahead of Kamui Kobayshi's Caterham.

Maldonado has said that his aim for the Chinese Grand Prix next weekend to score the Lotus F1 Team's first point's of the 2014 Formula One season. This could prove to be a little difficult as the Venezuelan has his 5 place grid penalty going into the race in Shanghai.
