McLaren's Jenson Button has stated that has been encouraged by recent talks with McLaren Group Chairman and CEO Ron Dennis about the future direction of the team as they enter an new era with Honda from next season onwards despite the fact that the 2009 world champion has yet to agree terms on a new McLaren deal as his current deal with the outfit expires at the end of this season.
Speaking about the current situation within the Woking based outfit Button stated:
'It was all interesting and encouraging, which comes on the back of the last couple of races in particular which have been good in terms of atmosphere within the team.'
The team have endured a difficult 2014 season and have picked up just two podium finishes this season which came at the opening round of the season at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne's Albert Park in March.
Button has scored five top ten finishes in the last five Grand Prix and is currently in 7th place in the championship while team mate Kevin Magnussen has had three top ten finishes in the five Grand Prix and is currently in 12th place in the championship. The Dane's future at McLaren is also uncertain but it is expected that the McLaren driver line-up for 2015 within the next few weeks.
