High speed extremes for Ricciardo and Pirelli

(Florent Gooden DPPI for Renault Sport F1)

Infiniti Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo set the highest speed of the season at last weekend's Italian Grand Prix in Monza where the Australian reached a speed of 362.1 kph on the main straight (with slip-streaming).

Pirelli have stated that this resulted in the wheel rotating 2800 times which equated to 90 times a minute which is incredible.

The company have also explained that at a circuit such as Monza their tyre's will see a down-force loading of 100 kilograms. The Pirelli tyre's undergo intense laboratory testing before they experience the surface of a Formula One circuit. During the test phase Pirelli tyre's are tested at speeds of 450 kph and are also tested at 250 kph which was simulate the impact of kerb's on the tyre.
