The FIA has confirmed that from the next race the Singapore Grand Prix net weekend radio communication from the pit-wall to the driver relating to their on track performance will not be permitted.
The ban which has been brought in by Formula One race director Charlie Whiting has been derived from Article 20.1 of the 2014 Formula One Sporting Regulations which states:
'The driver must drive the car alone and unaided'.
Mr Whiting has written to the teams to make them aware of the regulation saying:
'In order to ensure that the requirements of Article 20.1 of the F1 sporting regulations are respected at all times FIA intends to rigorously enforce this regulation with immediate effect. Therefore, no radio conversation from pit to driver may include any information that is related to the performance of the car or driver.'
The regulation means that we will now hear less radio traffic on the Formula One world feed which is broadcast during Grand Prix weekend's. Teams will still be allowed to advice drivers on the best pit strategy and it is expected that the issue will be discussed further over the course of the Singapore race weekend in order to clarify what will and will not be permitted.
