It is better to be the hunter rather then the hunted

(Mercedes AMG F1 Team)

Formula One heads to Singapore next weekend for what is sure to be yet another classic Grand Prix in what has been an extremely exciting 2014 season which has left fans on the edge of their seats from the start. There has been action, excitement and controversy and we still have six Grand Prix to look forward to. The story of F1 2014 is far from over!

Mercedes head to the race next weekend with a commanding lead in the Constructors championship however they are in n way getting complacent or taking anything for granted.

Lewis Hamilton went into the last race in Monza, the Italian Grand Prix with a 29 point deficit to his championship leading team mate Nico Rosberg after retiring from the Belgian Grand Prix a race which saw Rosberg finish in second place behind race winner Infiniti Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo.

At the Monza circuit last weekend, Nico Rosberg showed that he is human after making a number of some mistakes proving that even at the highest level of motorsport pressure can play a key role in how a race pans out. The finished the race in second place after seeing team mate Lewis Hamilton overtake him on lap 29 of the race. Hamilton has now as a result of his victory closed the gap to 22 points with six Grand Prix remaining this season.

Hamilton can afford to throw caution to the wind as he in a way has nothing to lose as he has won a championship already but of course he is desperate to collect his second F1 title. Rosberg on the other hand has yet to win a championship however and will be hoping that this year will be his year.

The team have done a good job in managing the situation between their two drivers following the incident in Belgium by allowing them race on the the condition that they do not collide with each other again. It would have been extremely easy for Toto Wolff and Paddy Lowe to say right enough is enough we are imposing team orders but that would not have been good for the sport at all.

It is going to be extremely interesting to see who leaves Singapore next weekend with the upper hand; 22 points may seem like a big gap but it is not at all. The way Formula One is things can change extremely quickly in the sport.
