Sirotkin to drive at home in Free Practice one

The Sauber F1 Team confirmed this afternoon that their test driver Sergey Siroktin will drive in the opening practice session at the inaugural Russian Grand Prix at the Sochi circuit next month. Siroktin joined the Swiss based outfit last season with a view taking up a race seat.

The teenager is currently competing in the Renault 3.5 Series and is hopeful that he will be able to gain a Formula One race seat for the 2015 season.

Siroktin will be the second test driver that the team will have run in a practice session this season as Giedo Van Der Garde has driven for the outfit in Practice session's this season and also took part in the test session following this years British Grand Prix.

The announcement from Sauber means that there will be two Russian drivers on track at the Sochi circuit. Speaking about the announcement Sauber F1 Team principal Monisha Keltenborn commented:

'In the World Series by Renault, Sergey had a difficult start to the season with many technical problems, but in the meantime he was able to recover and to win the race in Moscow'.

The Swiss based outfit have had an extremely difficult 2014 F1 season and are yet to score a world championship point something that they will be looking to rectify next time out at the Singapore night race next weekend.
