Formula One Management, the commercial rights holder of the
Pinnacle of Motorsport have confirmed that a draft version of the 2016 Formula
One calendar has been leaked.
It emerged in the early hours of Wednesday morning that the
2016 Formula One season won’t start until Sunday 3rd April at the
Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, the Australian Grand Prix. Azerbaijan is set
to make its Formula One debut with a street circuit with reports suggesting
that the race will take place in July.
The report also suggested that the German Grand Prix will
make a return after losing its place on the calendar for this season.
FOM have been quick to confirm that the ‘leak’ was a
provisional draft and that ‘it has not yet been approved. The calendar featured
21 races with the season spanning from April to November. It also featured
seven back to back Grand Prix events over the course of the season.
It has yet to be announced when the full calendar will be
finalised and released.
