Scuderia Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen is certain that the
Maranello based outfit will be able to catch the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team
this season.
The Italian outfit have scored a podium in each of the Grand
Prix so far this season and this also includes a victory at the Malaysian Grand
Prix. The German also secured a third place finish in Sunday’s Chinese Grand
Prix. Following a difficult start to his season in Melbourne Australia,
Raikkonen finished the Malaysian and Chinese Grand Prix in fourth place.
The Finn is now in fifth place in the championship on 24
points. The Finn believes that the developments that are in the pipeline for
the SF15-T over the next few races will also Ferrari to catch the Mercedes AMG
PETRONAS F1 Team over the course of the season.
Raikkonen stated: ‘Yes. I don’t see a reason why not’,
when asked if he feels Ferrari will overhaul Mercedes this year.
Raikkonen believes that with time Ferrari will be able to
beat Mercedes on any circuit in any conditions and the SF15-T is an extremely
quick car. Raikkonen feels however that on his side of the garage they need to
improve their qualifying performances.
Raikkonen concluded by saying that he wants to improve his
Friday and Saturday performance from this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix as it is
a new circuit with different conditions so they will try their best and see
what happens.
