Reigning Formula One world champion
Lewis Hamilton has topped the Sunday Times Richest Sportsman list in the UK for
2015 with a fortunate of £88 million.
The Mercedes driver topped the list
with Manchester United Football player Wayne Rooney overtaking Hamilton’s
former McLaren team mate Jenson Button to take second place. Rooney’s worth is
estimated at £72 million.
Hamilton’s fortunate has increased
by £20 million by virtue of the fact that he become Formula One world champion.
Jenson Button has dropped to third
place in the list taking up the final spot on the podium despite an increase in
his year on year earnings from £63 million to £71 million. Hamilton and Button
are the only two Formula One drivers in the top ten with the rest of the list
made up of personalities from the world of Tennis, Golf and Football.
British Tennis number one, Andy
Murray is in fourth place having earned £48 million in 2015. Making his way
onto the list for the first time is Arsenal Football club manager Arsene Wenger
who has earned £38 million.
The Frenchman is in 10th place with equal earnings to
Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs, world number one golfer Rory
Mcllroy and golfer Sir Nick Faldo who is a new entrant onto the list.
