The 2016 Formula One season is set to be the sport’s latest
start date in 28 years as it has been confirmed that the first race of the
year, the Australian Grand Prix will take place on Sunday 3rd April.
No reason has been given for the later start however it has
been speculated that by having a later start date, Bernie Ecclestone’s Formula
One Management Company are looking to pack more Grand Prix into a condensed
calendar.
Azerbaijan is set to make its debut on the Formula One
calendar next season with a circuit in Baku. It is also believed that by
condensing the calendar it is a way of the sport’s governing body, the FIA to
try and reduce costs in Formula One.
