Pirelli Motorsport believe that the 2015 Formula One cars
will be faster than the 2014 cars. The Italian tyre supplier believe that over
the course of the winter, teams will be able shave at least 2 seconds off laps
times.
Pirelli Motorsport Director Paul Hembery believes that if
the company were to bring the 2014 compounds to races this season, tyres
choices that were considered conservative in 2014 could be aggressive this
year.
The teams were at times critical of Pirelli as a result of
the tyre choices in 2014 and this is something that the company will be hoping
to avoid in 2015.
Hembery confirmed that the company have to be careful in the
development of the 2015 tyre and will be following their progress very
carefully and working extremely closely with the teams to come up with the best
possible compounds for this season. Winter testing gets underway in Jerez from
February 1
