Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen has hinted that the 2015 Formula One season may not be his last in the sport. The Finn, who returned to the Italian team ahead of the 2014 season has had an extremely difficult season and has scored just 41 points compared to team mate Fernando Alonso's 121 points and the Iceman finds himself in 10th place in the drivers championship.
The Finn has yet to secure a podium for Ferrari this season whereas Alonso has scored two podium finishes this season. Despite his difficult season, speaking to F1 Racing Magazine Raikkonen has insisted that he is in a happy place.
Raikkonen is hopeful that as the F1 circus heads for their long haul conclusion that his performances will pick up starting at the Singapore night race later this month where last season while driving for the Lotus F1 Team Raikkonen finished in third place behind now team mate Fernando Alonso after starting the race from 13th place on the grid.
Raikkonen has reiterated the fact that he has a contract in place with Ferrari for next season and is certain that he will be with the team next season however has warned that he has in the past understood just because a contract is in place doesn't mean that it will be honored.
Ferrari have already stated that they will retain both Kimi and Fernando for next season. The Finn is unsure what the future holds for him beyond next season but has stated that he would like to return to NASCAR at some point as that category of motor racing is so different to what he experiences in Formula One.
Raikkonen has stated that he is hopeful that he and the team will be in a position to challenge for the championship next season. The Finn is the Italian teams last championship having won in 2007.
