Lotus still looking to unlock the full potential of their new package

(Lotus F1 Team)

The Lotus F1 Team’s Track Operations Director Alan Permane believes his team are still learning when it comes to their 2015 package and building their new partnership with Mercedes Benz.

The Enstone outfit have endured a difficult start to the new season having made the switch from Renault to Mercedes over the winter however this has not been a factor in the team’s issues. In the opening race of the season in Melbourne Australia the team managed to get both Pastor Maldonado and Romain Grosjean into the top ten in qualifying.

Maldonado and Grosjean failed to finish the opening race of the season in Australia while last time out in Malaysia, Maldonado failed to complete the race while Grosjean finished the race in eleventh place.

Permane believes however that updates that they will bring in the upcoming races should help them to improve their performances following a difficult year in 2014 where the team scored just ten points and finished the season in eighth place in the championship.

In China next weekend the Enstone outfit plan to run a new front wing while for the first race of the European leg of the season in Barcelona next month the team will have new nose for the car.

The team are hopeful that they will have a stronger race in China next week as they aero upgrades coming to the car.
