Scuderia Toro Rosso could be rebranded with a yellow livery as a ‘works Renault’ team in the future as a way for the French manufacturer to gain greater exposure from its involvement in Formula One that is according to Red Bull motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko.

Scuderia Toro Rosso and Infiniti Red Bull Racing are the only two teams supplied with power units from Renault following the demise of the Caterham F1 Team and following the Lotus F1 Team’s switch to Mercedes power units over the winter. It is believed however that any deal between the French manufacturer and the Toro Rosso team would not have any effect on their relationship with Infiniti Red Bull Racing.

Toro Rosso Team Principal Franz Tost believes that a ‘works’ agreement with the Renault for his team would prove to be a fantastic opportunity for the outfit to move up the Formula One grid.

Marko stated any deal between Renault and Toro Rosso would need to ensure that they the Italian team remain close to Red Bull Racing due to the technical knowhow within the Milton Keynes based outfit and that is also where Red Bull Technologies is based. The team also possess more sophisticated equipment than Toro Rosso according to Marko.
Scuderia Toro Rosso are currently in fifth place in the Constructors championship on 12 points, just one point ahead of Red Bull Racing.

A works tie up with a team is just one of many options being looked at by Renault according to Managing Director Cyril Abiteboul.
