Toro Rosso aiming for fifth and don't care if they beat Infiniti Red Bull Racing

Scuderia Toro Rosso have stated that they have no interest in beating sister team Infiniti Red Bull Racing but instead they are aiming to end the year in a career best fifth place in the Constructors championship.

Last time out at the Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang circuit Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz finished the race in the points ahead of Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo. The result means that the Faenza based outfit are in fifth place in the Constructors championship, just one point ahead of Infiniti Red Bull Racing.

It is the first time since the second race of the 2009 season that that Scuderia Toro Rosso have been ahead of Infiniti Red Bull Racing.

Toro Rosso Team Principal Franz Tost has stated that the team do not care who they finish ahead of in the championship and that they are just concentrating on securing points finishes because if they do not score points than they are not achieving the targets that they have set themselves.

The Italian team’s technical director James Keys said that the outfit began developing their upgrades for the European leg of the 2015 season last November and they are progressing well. The Italian outfit head to the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend with both Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz having finished the race in 7th and 8th place respectively.

Their double points finish in Malaysia came off the back of a fantastic Formula One debut for Carlos Sainz who finished the Australian Grand Prix in 9th place.

The team will hoping that they can continue their impressive start to the season in China this weekend. They go into the race just two points behind the Sauber F1 Team who are currently in fourth place in the Constructors championship.
