(Sahara Force India Formula One Team)
Sahara Force India Deputy Team Principal Robert Fernley has
confirmed that the Silverstone based outfit’s plans to introduce a B-spec
version of their VJM08 have been put on hold until the Austrian Grand Prix at the
Red Bull Ring which takes place from June 19 – 21.
The team initially planned for the new heavily revised and
updated car to be ready for the Monaco Grand Prix in May however Fernley has
confirmed that although the development of the new car is progressing well it
probably won’t be seen until the Austrian Grand Prix.
The Silverstone based
outfit ran the car for the first time at the final winter test in Barcelona in
February after they experienced a delay in the production of the car as they
conducted a deal to use Toyota’s wind-tunnel in Cologne.
The team scored points in the opening race of the season as
both Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio ‘Checco’ Perez finished the race in seventh and
ninth place respectively.
As a result of their double points finish in Australia,
Sahara Force India head to the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend in seventh place
in the Constructors championship. Meanwhile Fernley has stated that it makes
sense in running the new car in Austria as there is a two day test following the
race before the team’s head to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix.
