Reigning world champions Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team have
confirmed that they will launch their new car, the W06 at the end of month
prior to the start of winter testing in Jerez which gets underway on Sunday 1
February at the Jerez circuit in Spain.
Mercedes Executive Director (Business) Toto Wolff has also
confirmed that they hope to run their new car at the end of January which would
take place as a filming day due to the fact that Formula One testing is
restricted. Mercedes will once again field Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
Despite being world champion and eligible to run the number one on his car the
FIA have cleared Lewis Hamilton to retain the number 44 this season.
Mercedes believe that their main title rivals this season
will be the Williams Martini Racing Team after they ended the year as their closest
rivals.
