Former Formula One and McLaren driver John Watson expects
the Woking based outfit to be much stronger at next weekend’s Chinese Grand
Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit.
Watson believes however that the team have a lot of work to
do but that the new MP4-30 chassis has shown potential and once Honda have got
on top of the reliability of their power unit the team will be very
competitive.
Jenson Button has already stated that he believes that the
team will be in a position to challenge for top ten finishes once Formula One
hits the European leg of the season next month.
The Woking based outfit were
challenging the likes of Scuderia Toro Rosso and the Sahara Force India Formula
One Team last time out in Malaysia before both Fernando Alonso and Jens Button
both retired from the race.
Watson who drive for McLaren during the 1980’s winning four
Grand Prix went on to say that the team and the fans need to be patient and
that is will be the end of year before the team unlock the potential of the
entire package.
Watson went on to say that the team will be hoping to win
Grand Prix next season and in 2017 before they are challenging for victories.
