(Lotus F1 Team)
New Lotus F1 Team Development driver Carmen Jorda has backed
Formula One Supremo Bernie Ecclestone’s idea for an all-female Formula One
category.
The
Spaniard who joined the Lotus F1 Team in February believes times have changed
and it is time that Formula One followed the lead of other professional sports
such as Football, Golf, Tennis, Skiing and others by introducing female only races.
Speaking to the official Formula One website the 26 year old said that ‘society
has changed a lot in the last few decades.’
Carmen revealed that when she began her career in motorsport
when she raced in go karts and she was on the podium in a race where she
finished in second place, the third placed driver began to cry as he was upset
that he had been beaten by a girl.
In her new role with Lotus, Jorda attends all Grand Prix and
will get an opportunity to drive for the team later in the year.
