Red Bull will remain behind Mercedes until the regulations are changed

Red Bull motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko believes that Infiniti Red Bull Racing won’t catch the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team until such time that the regulations are changed.

As it stands with only just two Grand Prix completed in 2015, the Milton Keynes based outfit are 67 points behind the reigning world champions. Red Bull spent four years at the top of Formula One from 2010 – 2013 with the team winning the drivers and constructors championships.

However the outfit struggled to get to grips with the new regulations brought in last season however despite this they managed to score three victories with Daniel Ricciardo and on to finish the 2014 championship in the runner up slot behind Mercedes. So far this season however the team have scored just eleven points.

Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey has made no secret of the fact that he is not a fan of the of the new regulations which have restricted the teams and this was one of the reasons why he decided to take a step back from the day to day operational responsibilities at Infiniti Red Bull Racing to concentrate on other projects.

Marko confirmed that following their difficult start to the season Infiniti Red Bull Racing have implemented changes so that each individual at the outfit has a defined role within the organisation.
