Grosjean should stay

Hungarian Grand Prix
(Alastair Staley for Lotus F1 Team)

The Lotus F1 Team's Pastor Maldonado has called for his team mate Romain Grosjean to remain with the Enstone outfit for the 2015 Formula One season amid recent reports that the Frenchman is considering his future within Formula One as he is out of contract with the Lotus team at the end of the 2014 season.the

Grosjean, who has been with the team since returning to the sport in 2012 and has stated that he would use the Summer break to weigh up his options in Formula One. Although he feels that Enstone is like a family he wants to ensure that next season he is in a car that is capable of race wins following a somewhat disappointing season so far in 2014 which has the Lotus F1 Team score eight points this season all from Grosjean.

Maldonado, who replaced Kimi Raikkonen at the team for this season has stated that he feels that Grosjean is a good driver and he sees no reason why team should not keep him for next season.

Lotus F1 Team principal Gerard Lopez has confirmed that Maldonado is secure for 2015 and is hopeful that Grosjean will remain with the the outfit next season. Although it yet to be officially confirmed it is expected that the Lotus team will replace McLaren as a Mercedes customer for next season when the Woking based outfit make the switch to Honda who return to the sport as a power unit for the first time since leaving F1 at the end of 2008 season.

Since returning to Enstone in 2012 Grosjean has scored nine podium finishes but has so far this season failed to repeat that success as the team have struggled so far in 2014.

It remains to be seen what Grosjean's future will hold but there is the potential of a number of seats available next season. However the Lotus F1 Team will be extremely keen to hold to Grosjean who has proven himself to be a team leader.
