Not a marketing exercise

(Williams Martini Racing Team)

Williams Martini Racing's test and development driver Susie Wolff has dismissed the thought that she is with the outfit as a 'marketing scheme'. The Scottish driver has taken part in two practice Friday practice session's at both the British Grand Prix in Silverstone and the German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring. Wolff believes that she is at the Williams on merit and has confirmed that Sir Frank and Claire Williams would not put someone in their car if they didn't have the belief that the driver would perform and that is exactly the case with Wolff.

Wolff is not just in Formula One because of her gender she showed in Germany that she was extremely capable of driving a Formula One car at the highest level as she finished the Free Practice session just two tenths of a second behind team mate Felipe Massa.

Wolff has completed her runs for this season however the team have now revealed that they have not ruled out the possibility of her testing for the team again this season.

Wolff revealed that she does not want to move to another team because Williams gave her the opportunity to test a Formula One car when no other team would due to the fact that she struggled in the German Touring Car championship. The Scot will remain with the team and see what happens along the way.

Wolff is not the only female driver aiming to get a seat in Formula One as the Sauber F1 Team's affiliate driver Simona De Silvestro is taking part in an extremely intense fast track programme to Formula One with the team hoping to get her a Formula One seat next season.
