Vergne not ready to give up on F1 for 2015

(Francois Flamand DPPI for Renault Sport F1)

Following last night's confirmation from Toro Rosso that they have signed dutch youngster Max Verstappen to race for them in 2015 replacing Jean Eric Vergne the Frenchman has spoken for the first time since the announcement taking to his official Twitter page to say:

'Toro Rosso is a good school. I learnt a lot. Now focused on a great end of season. I'm already working foe 2015. Still a lot to show in F1.'

The Frenchman has scored the bulk of Toro Rosso's 17 point's so far the season. The Italian outfit are currently seventh in the Constructors championship nine point's ahead of the Lotus F1 Team. Vergne made his Formula One debut alongside Daniel Ricciardo at Toro Rosso in 2012 and in his first season he scored 16 points, six more points then team mate Ricciardo.

Last season Vergne finished just behind Ricciardo and scored 13 points for the Italian team. The Frenchman is hopeful that he will be able to pick up a race seat for 2015 with a number of team's potentially on the look out for a driver. Vergne has shown great speed and deserves a seat in F1.

However if he misses out on a race seat for next season he could very easily pick up a test role with a team which could potentially lead to a number of Free Practice outings during the 2015 season which would mean that he would be race ready should a seat become available with a team during the season next year or if a seat becomes available in 2016.
