Infiniti Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has stated that 'Daniel has exceeded our expectations'. The Australian was promoted to a race seat alongside reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel for the 2014 season from Toro Rosso to replace countryman Mark Webber.

Ricciardo's impact at the reigning world champions was instant as he out-qualified reigning world champion team mate Sebastian Vettel as he started his home race from the front row alongside pole sitter Lewis Hamilton. He initially finished the race on the podium in second place behind Mercedes Nico Rosberg but was later disqualified from the race.

His first podium came at the first race of the Europran leg of the 2014 season, the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit Barcelona de Catalunya. He finished the race in third place and followed this up with another third place at the Monaco Grand Prix.

He took his first win of the season at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal and since then has taken another victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Horner told Autosport:

'Daniel has done a wonderful job, he has exceeded all of our expectations and probably his own.'

Ricciardo currently finds himself in 3rd place in the Driver's championship just behind the Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton as the sport prepares to come back from the Summer break next weekend for the Belgian Grand Prix at the iconic Spa Francorchamps circuit where Ricciardo hopes to have a fun race.
