Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost has stated that 'a big result would be confirmation for JEV' The Frenchman who admitted to feeling hard done by after being overlooked for the Red Bull seat alongside Sebastian Vettel for 2014 has so far this season scored eleven points for Toro Rosso and went into the Summer Break in 13th place in the championship.

Vergne has been with Toro Rosso since 2012 and was joined at the team by Australian Daniel Ricciardo who had previously driven briefly for HRT with the backing of Red Bull.

Speaking about Vergne, Franz Tost stated:

'He made a lot of progress during the winter months so he is much more mentally stable'. 'He is doing a good job. Unfortunately he has had a lot of reliability issues with his car, but from the driving point of view he is fast, skilled and I just hope he gets a really good result.'

The Toro Rosso team are currently out on their own in 7th place in the Constructors championship on 17 points, eleven ahead of the Lotus F1 Team and eighty behind McLaren Mercedes who are currently in 6th place.

The Formula One circus heads to the Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa Francorchamps circuit next weekend where last year Jean Eric Vergne finished the race in 12th place having started the race from 18th place on grid so he will be hoping for an improvement this year.
