De Silvestro concentrating on driving

(Sauber F1 Team)

Sauber F1 Team Affiliated driver Simona De Silvestro has said that she is only interested in driving in Formula One and not in any of the other things that could come with it like photo shoot's and fashion. De Silvestro is aiming to gain a place on the 2015 Formula One grid and impressed the Sauber team when she tested for the Swiss outfit last month.

Speaking to the Telegraph newspaper, De Silvestro, who competed in IndyCar for four year's said:

'Magazine shoots or fashion is not my style,' De Silvestro went on to say: 'F1 is so selective and so picky. To me, what we’re trying to do is to be competitive and to show that even if you’re a woman in F1 – which is a man’s world – that you can be really competitive.'

Simona De Silvestro is not the only female driver vying for a place in Formula One as Scotland's Susie Wolff is the test and development driver with the Williams Martini Racing Team. Wolff took part in last week's in-season test at the Barcelona Circuit de Catalunya which was her first time driving the 2014 FW36. Wolff was extremely impressive and finished her day in the car in fifth place completing 55 laps.

Wolff will take part in two Free Practice sessions at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone and then again at the German Grand Prix.

The Sauber F1 Team are hopeful that De Silvestro will be able to get behind the wheel of their 2014 F1 car at some stage this season. Speaking in the paddock at the Spanish Grand Prix De Silvestro was asked if she has spoken to Susie Wolff and she said no that she has yet meet her.
