The Ferrari Formula One team head to the Monaco Grand Prix next weekend following a somewhat difficult weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix at the Barcelona Circuit de Catalunya last weekend which saw Fernand Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen finish the race in 6th and 7th place respectively.
The result means that the Italian team are 131 point's behind Mercedes who currently lead the Constructors championship.
Kimi Raikkonen had a great start to the weekend as he out-qualified Fernando Alonso for the second time this season when he put his F14T in 6th place on the grid while Alonso started the race from 7th place. Raikkonen was able to keep Alonso behind him until the closing laos if the race when Alonso finally got past the Finn.
Following the Grand Prix Raikkonen was not happy with how the team's strategy had played out and was heard over the radio asking who had made the strategy call. The Spanish Grand Prix showed the sport however that Raikkonen can beat Alonso.
Fernando Alonso is currently in third place in the Drivers standings, 51 points behind championship leader Lewis Hamilton while Kimi Raikkonen is currently in eleventh place 83 points behind Hamilton. The Italian team have made a step forward and the nature of the circuit in Monte Carlo should suit the characteristics of the F14T and they had a productive test in Barcelona earlier this week with Kimi Raikkonen covering 115 laps for the Italian team over the course of the two day test.
In Monaco last season, Fernando Alonso finished the race in seventh place for Ferrari while Kimi Raikkonen finished the race in 10th place for the Lotus F1 Team. The Ferrari duo will be hoping for a better performance this season following the successful test in Barcelona.
