Hamilton leads Mercedes 1-2 in Free Practice 1

Mercedes AMG F1 Team's Lewis Hamilton set the benchmark time of 1m 18.271s to finish the first practice session in Monaco just 0.032s ahead of team mate Nico Rosberg. Daniel Ricciardo was best of the rest for Red Bull Racing just 0.235s behind the Silver Arrows. Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest splitting the two Red Bull's with Sebastian Vettel in 5th place.

Kimi Raikkonen was 6th in the second Ferrari just ahead of the Williams Martini Racing of Valtteri Bottas who was 1.223s behind the 'works' Mercedes pair. Sergio Perez had a strong session for Force India as he finished the session in 8th place just ahead of the first McLaren of Kevin Magnussen. Nico Hulkenberg rounded out the top ten in the second Force India.

Jenson Button was 11th fastest in the second McLaren who have failed to score point's in the last three Grand Prix of the season. Sauber's Esteban Gutierrez was 12th for the Swiss out-fit.

Despite what seemed like a promising start to the session for the Lotus F1 Team, Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado finished the morning session in 13th and 14th place respectively. Jean Eric Vergne was 15th for the Toro Rosso team while Felipe Massa struggled in the second Williams and finished the session in 16th place 2.246s behind Hamilton.

Sauber's Adrian Sutil had a difficult session as the German finished the morning in 17th place and sufered an accident going into Mirabau and damaging the C33.

Daniil Kvyat was 18th in the second Toro Rosso in his first ever trip around the Monaco circuit in a Formula One car. Jules Bianchi was 19th in the first Marussia while Marcus Ericsson was the fastest of the two Caterham driver's with Kamui Kobayashi in 21st place.

Max Chilton's session ended early as the Englishman spun coming into Mirabau and ended the session in 22nd place.

The second practice session gets underway at 1PM (Irish time).
