McLaren Mercedes have made further appointments to their Formula One team as they aim to get back to the front of Formula One. The Woking based outfit have announced that they signed Tony Salter from the Sauber F1 Team and they have also signed Guillaume Cattelani from the Lotus F1 Team in addition to the arrival next season of new Head of Aerodynamics Peter Pedromou is who is set to join the team from Red Bull Racing.
McLaren had a fantastic start to the season Down Under in Melbourne when Kevin Magnussen finished the race in second place while Jenson Button finished the Grand Prix in third place. Since the opening race of the season however the Woking outfit have struggled and find themselves in fifth place in the Constructors championship, 9 point's behind Ferrari.
Speaking to Autosport about the internal changes within the team, Racing Director Eric Boullier said:
'McLaren is composed of brilliant individuals, they have been winning many races and have been fighting for championships. I think it is just to make sure that the same people are working together in one way with strong leadership, strong guidance and at least it will help them to recover their past success.'
The team are set have a more streamlined chain of communication which it is hoped will help the team to improve their position within the championship. Boullier has stated that the team have not implemented these changes as a short term fix and that they are looking to the future performances of the team.
McLaren will head to the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend with a large upgrade package that they hope will enable them to challenge Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari for a podium finish.
