The Caterham F1 Team's Marcus Ericsson will start tomorrow's Italian Grand Prix from the pit-lane after being penalized by the race stewards as the Swedish driver failed to slow down for double waved yellow flags after Sahara Force India's Sergio Perez stopped on track a Curva Grande during Free Practice three this morning.
Ericsson had qualified for the race in 22nd place. Speaking following the news Ericsson said:
'This morning in FP3 we had a small problem with the engine before the performance run, so we didn't get to do a proper run on the Option tyres and therefore we went into qualifying a bit blind, unfortunately,
Everything worked fine in the afternoon, but we struggled to get the most out of the car. We need to look at the data tonight and see where we can improve compared to Kamui [Kobayashi]. I'm disappointed with the result but we will certainly fight back tomorrow! '
Caterham head into the Italian Grand Prix yet to score a single point since they entered Formula One. Their main rivals in the Constructors championship the Marussia F1 Team have scored two world championship points following Jules Bianchi's 9th place finish at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this season.
The Leafield based outfit are one of two teams who have failed to score a point this season. The other team is the Sauber F1 Team.
