Clear to join Ferrari following Mercedes resignation

(Mercedes AMG PETRONAS)

Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton has lost his performance engineer Jock Clear. The 51 year old Englishman who had been with the Mercedes since it entered Formula One as BAR in 1999, resigned from the team following the season finale Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

As reported by Paddock Eye on Wednesday, Clear will join Scuderia Ferrari in 2015, following a period of gardening leave from the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team.

It is expected that the highly rated engineer will replace Pat Fry at the Maranello based outfit following the announcement earlier this week that Fry had left Ferrari. It is expected that Clear will become head of Ferrari’s Trackside Engineering operation, the position former held by Fry.

Clear will join fellow Englishman, James Allison who remains at Ferrari as technical Director.
