Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen has stated that he won’t go into the why he finished the 2014 season, his first back at Ferrari so far behind former team mate Fernando Alonso. The Finn ended the season in 12th place in the championship on 55 points while Alonso finished in 6th place on 161 points. The Spaniard claimed two podium finishes during the season in China and Hungary.

Speaking to Top Gear, Raikkonen stated ‘There are many reasons for finishing so far behind Alonso. But the end result is always the same.’

Raikkonen will have a new team mate at Ferrari in 2015 after Sebastian Vettel has joined the Maranello based outfit from Infiniti Red Bull Racing replacing Fernando Alonso who is expected to sign for McLaren-Honda.

Raikkonen is looking forward to the battle with Vettel and feels that what they have had previously as friends should not change as they embark on their partnership at Ferrari next season.

Raikkonen has stated that he and the team must work extremely hard over the coming years to enable them to compete with the likes of Mercedes and Infiniti Red Bull Racing.
