The Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team have confirmed that world champion Lewis Hamilton and his team mate Nico Rosberg will remain free to race in 2015.

Lewis Hamilton goes into the 2015 Formula One season as reigning world champion, having taken eleven victories on his way to the title. The double world champion will be aiming to become the first British driver to secure back to back world titles.

Nico Rosberg on the other hand is hoping to secure his very first world championship. If the German wins the champion next season, he would become the second son to win a championship just like the Hill’s did with Graham Hill winning the championship in 1968 while Damon Hill won the championship with Williams in 1996.

Keke Rosberg, Nico’ father won the title for the Williams Formula One team in 1982. Mercedes Motorsport Director, Toto Wolff has stated that he does not want to see a repeat of the incident between his two drivers at the Belgian Grand Prix ever again.

The fact that the pair will be allowed to race each other next season comes as relief for fans of Formula One as both driver will continue to receive equal status.
