Formula One sets up promotional working group to find ideas of how to improve the show for fans

(Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team)

The Formula One teams have set up a new Promotional Working Group to help come with ways of improving the sport for fans. The group who held their first meeting over the course of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend is led by Williams Martini Racing's deputy team principal Claire Williams.

The group is looking at ways for fans to gain greater access to the sport. One of the ideas which has been mooted is to open up the Formula One paddock to the fans on the Thursday of a race weekend at the same time as the pit-lane walkabout takes place so that fans could can access to the normally reserved areas of Formula One.

It has also been suggested that the sport has a decided social media strategy because as it stands although the teams are fantastic on social media in terms of fan interaction and running competitions their is no clear path set out for the sport on social media as a way of attracting the social media savvy younger audience to the sport with the exception of #F1 or #AbuDhabi Grand Prix.

Another idea that has been discussed is to allow fans greater access to the drivers over the course of a race weekend.

The promotional groups ideas will then be put forward to the Formula Strategy Working Group for them to vote on with the agreed changes set to take affect from 2015.

What would YOU like to see introduced to improve the 'F1 Experience'?
