It has emerged that Sebastian Vettel who was announced as Fernando Alonso's replacement at Ferrari from 2015 had been set to test for the Maranello based outfit during post Abu Dhabi Grand Prix end of season test at the Yas Marina circuit next Tuesday and Wednesday however his current Infiniti Red Bull Racing team blocked the move for fear that the German would take secrets from Infiniti Red Bull Racing with him to Ferrari.

Vettel's contract with Red Bull Racing runs until next Friday 28th November and last month when it became clear that the German would be leaving the team, Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz stated that the quadruple world champion would have to see out the remainder of his contract and would not be released early.

Speaking to the media in Abu Dhabi however, Sebastian Vettel commented on the situation saying:

'It's a shame because, initially, I was allowed, then I wasn't. he went on to say:

'It is what it is but, all of a sudden, something changed. As far as I understand, the technical people were panicking a little bit, afraid that I would take some secrets.'

It is likely that Ferrari will run Kimi Raikkonen and Pedro Dela Rosa during next week's test which takes place on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th November.

It also means that Vettel's first taste of a modern day Ferrari F1 car will come when Winter testing gets underway in February.
