Former Formula One driver Mark Webber is in 'a satisfactory condition' following his horrific crash while in sixth place in the World Endurance Championship season finale at the Interlagos circuit in Brazil on Sunday.

The Australian who qualified for the race on pole position crashed coming onto the main straight of the circuit with just 20 minutes to go in the 6 hours of Brazil race in Sao Paulo.

While Webber was initially taken to the circuit medical centre he was later transferred via ambulance to a hospital in Sao Paulo and will stay in hospital overnight as a precaution. The Australian, who left Formula One at the end of last season after quitting Red Bull Racing finished his first season with the Porsche LMP1 World Endurance Championship in ninth place in the championship.
