Four time world champion Sebastian Vettel has stated that he feels that it will take time for success to return to the Italian team. The Maranello based outfit endured an extremely difficult season in 2014 which saw them secure just two podium finishes courtesy of Fernando Alonso in China and Hungary. The team finished in fourth place in the championship, 104 points behind the Williams Martini Racing Team.
It was announced last week that Fernando Alonso would leave the team after five seasons with Sebastian Vettel joining the outfit as Kimi Raikkonen's new team mate for next season. Speaking to German newspaper Die Welt, Vettel stated:
'We should not think that we can battle with Mercedes next year. I am aware that we have a lot of work to do at Ferrari and that will take time, especially when Mercedes already has a great competitive advantage.'
Vettel also stated that he will wants to make sure that the move was right for him and indeed for Ferrari too so he would not give a time period on when he would like the team to be successful and the German understand that there is a lot of work that needs to be done before the team can think about being successful in 2015.
Kimi Raikkonen remains the teams last world drivers champion having taken victory in 2007 having joined the Italian team that season. The Ferrari team last won the Constructors world championship in 2008.
